Views & Vistas – Contest Rules
This contest is open to citizens of India aged above 18 years.
You need to be an unpublished first-time author to enter this contest. If your writing has been in the form of blogs, or a self-published e book on the internet, you are eligible to enter.
If you have already had books published elsewhere, please refrain from writing for Views and Vistas.
It will run from the opening date of 15th May, 2015 to the closing date of 31st Sept, 2015.
No submissions will be entertained under this contest beyond the closing date mentioned above.
Views & Vistas is presently open to authors in English and Marathi only.
Entries must reach us in MS Word .doc or .docx or editable pdf file formats and in Marathi Unicode. You can also send them in the Marathi Shrilipi font. Mail these to email@example.com.
You will also need to send us two typed and spiral bound copies of your entry to complete your submission. Send by post or courier to the following address: Vishwakarma Publications, 2nd floor, Shreemangal Building, Bel Bag Chowk, Opp. Bank of India, Pune 411002.
The contest invites manuscripts for books under the following 2 categories:
Submitted manuscripts must be at least 30,000 words long. There is no upper limit, but manuscripts of over 75000 words will need a very good rationale for their length. The categories can be explored according to the author’s imagination and inclination. For instance, Mystery/Thriller can cover a whodunit detective novel, or an adventure saga with suspense and travel elements. Lifestyle/Wellness can cover topics of fashion, health, food and nutrition, aesthetics, and self-improvement. Business can be based on personal experiences and profiles, or offer ideas and innovations on classic topics and practices. Innovative ways of presenting the content are also welcome.
Manuscripts will be judged by a panel of three eminent authors and editors. The profiles of our judges will be posted on our website by the first week of August, 2015.
There will be a First Prize consisting of Rs. 20,000/- only, a Second Prize consisting of Rs. 15,000/- only and a Third Prize of Rs. 10,000/- only for Fiction, and the same prizes for Non Fiction. There will also be four prizes of Rs. 5000/- two each from the shortlisted entries in each category.
Authors who have won a prize in this contest will have their books published by Vishwakarma Publications, with no further royalty payable by us. This means that they will be promoted as our prize winners across social media and with our retail partners and their books will be printed with Prize Winner tags. In addition to the prize winning and short listed authors, we may also contact other authors whose work we consider to be of some interest, and sign them up for future projects. Our objective is to create good books of merit and relevance to contemporary Indian readers, and this contest is a first step in that direction.
The employees of Vishwakarma Publications and their family members cannot submit entries for this contest.
Results of this contest will be declared not later than 30th November, 2015.
All entries to this contest must be accompanied by the following information. Please ensure that your entry has these details on the first page when you send it by e mail. Please also ensure that you have signed your entry on the first page in the relevant space when you send us the hard copy.
Manuscripts will be subjected to strict plagiarism checks. If plagiarized themes, content or portions are detected, the entry will stand to be disqualified without further notice to the author.
